Just uploaded to my shop! You can now buy the illustrations form my first novel 'The Land of Lost Thoughts' as a more economical size of A4 for only £5.99.
These are printed on a matt white paper and supplied flat for you to frame or simply stick on the wall! I realised the A1s may be a bit daunting for some of you who genuinely like my artwork but don't have the wall space. Because of the nature of the book my illustrations follow several themes which are of possible interest to different groups. As I've mentioned before I did a fair bit of research into Crystal Palace and drew upon my own childhood memories of the place to draw things like the 'No. 3 Bus'. I did research the number plates used at that time by London Transport and also double checked the posters and theatre events such as Les Miserables, happening at that time just to see if I remembered correctly, plus I did have to get it right in the book.
The picture like, 'Picnic; Devon' is drawn from a memory of my own Grandmother's picnic hamper but I did use artistic license with the spot cup which I seem to recall was a very thick almost bakerlite plastic in a pale or duck egg blue I suppose it would be called now. The picture, 'Emily's room' is complete fabrication. I remembered an old valve record player of my mother's from the 1950's and then placed various other items around to recreate that 80's feel in the room, namely the AdamAnt poster. I did use an actual poster I have which was a tear sheet from a comic way back then which I have kept ever since in an AdamAnt folder I have, just to get the braiding right you understand! I do actually have lots of lyrics written out by a friend and some of what I have written in the novel about Emily and her friends is based upon real memories of my own experiences at that time.
I will expand upon the intricasies of my novel another time but for now there you go, £5.99 for an artprint from my book, you cant say fairer than that eh?
